Is Garage Sale free to use?

Proposing, accepting, and completing trades is always free. The only charge is a flat, non-refundable fee each time you publish a listing — not when a trade completes. See our Pricing page for the current amount.

Do I need a payment method to use Garage Sale?

You only need a card on file to publish a listing. Browsing, proposing trades, messaging, and accepting or completing trades never require a saved card.

What's the difference between a Have and a Want listing?

A Have listing is something you own and are willing to trade away — you describe what you'd take in return. A Want listing describes something you're looking for, along with what you're offering in exchange. Anyone can browse both types.

Can I offer more than one item in a trade?

Yes. When you propose a trade, you can offer a single item or a bundle of several of your own active listings in exchange for the item you want.

What happens after a proposal is accepted?

Both listings involved are locked (no other proposals can be made on them) until the trade is confirmed complete or cancelled. You and the other trader can message each other in-app to arrange the in-person swap.

How does trade confirmation work?

After you meet up and swap in person, each of you confirms the trade as complete independently, inside the platform. Once both sides confirm, the trade is marked complete — no fee is charged at this step, since the fee was already collected when the listing was published.

What is the Untrusted flag?

If one trader confirms a trade and the other doesn't confirm within the confirmation window (7 days by default), the non-confirming trader is automatically flagged Untrusted. The flag is visible on their public profile. Garage Sale staff can review the trade timeline and clear or escalate the flag.

Can I cancel a trade proposal?

Yes, either side can cancel an open or accepted-but-not-yet-confirmed proposal. Cancelling before either party confirms unlocks the listings so they can be traded again. The original listing's publish fee is not refunded.

How do I report a problem with another trader?

Open the trade thread and use the Report other trader link, or block them directly from the thread. Reports go to a moderation queue reviewed by Garage Sale staff.
