Acceptable Use Policy

This policy expands on Section 4 of our Terms of Service and describes what is and isn't allowed when you use Garage Sale.

Prohibited items

You may not list, offer, or request:

• Illegal items, or items whose sale or transfer is restricted by law in your area.
• Weapons, ammunition, or explosives.
• Alcohol, tobacco, vaping products, or controlled substances.
• Prescription medication or medical devices.
• Counterfeit or stolen goods.
• Live animals.
• Anything that infringes another party's intellectual property.

Individual item categories may carry additional prohibited-keyword screening set by Garage Sale staff; a listing that matches a prohibited keyword for its category will be rejected.

Prohibited conduct

You agree not to:

• Misrepresent an item's condition, description, or photos.
• Harass, threaten, or discriminate against another trader.
• Attempt to arrange payment for a "trade" in place of an actual item-for-item swap, or otherwise use Garage Sale to buy or sell rather than trade.
• Attempt to circumvent the per-post listing fee (e.g., creating duplicate accounts to avoid payment method verification).
• Use another person's account, or create an account using false information.
• Scrape, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the normal operation of the platform.

Enforcement

Garage Sale staff may remove a listing, resolve a report against you, apply or clear an Untrusted flag, or suspend or ban your account for violating this policy, consistent with our Terms of Service.

Reporting a violation

If you encounter a listing or trader that violates this policy, report it from the listing page or an active trade thread, or reach out through our Contact page.
